Chocolate mousse
If you want a delicious, pretty simple, cheap dessert then you can’t go far wrong with a chocolate mousse, or as the French call it, une mousse au chocolat. It’s not a recipe you’ll want to turn to when trying to lose excess weight, but it is a fab feel-good one, which makes it perfect for the miserable months of winter.
For the first time I’m linking a sweet dish up to Tasty Tuesdays and Recipe of the Week, pop on over to see what other bloggers are making this week:
Chocolate mousse

Ingredients:
Instructions:
Summary:
- Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt and the sugar
- Melt the chocolate with the water
- Fold the egg whites into the melted chocolate
- Leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight)
Put your saucepan onto a medium heat. Get all your ingredients ready.
Separate the egg yolks from the whites (you don't need the yolks for this recipe), then whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt and the sugar. Melt the chocolate with the water in the saucepan over a medium heat.
Fold the egg whites into the melted chocolate, this is the same technique we used for the "Chocolate cake to die for".
Put in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight preferably, and then it's time for Chocolate mousse heaven!
Don't forget, if you like this recipe please share it! We'd love it if you came back and shared your comments, thoughts, and rating on this dish once you've cooked it. Bon appétit!
I love a nice chocolate mousse but have never tried making one myself. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Just love chocolate mousse, it’s my must have when I’m in a French bistro/restaurant….a little nervous about the raw egg when I do it myself (that’s probably just me being very English)…will have to try this one. You make it sound wonderfully simple, although I somehow suspect you are more skilled at the fold than me!
sarahhillwheeler recently posted…Perfect savoury pancakes
Same here, I always get this as my dessert when we go out for dinner. As long as you use fresh eggs and don’t keep the mousse for long (as if it doesn’t get scoffed immediately!) then you should be fine. We’re going to be sharing a video on how to do the fold soon….watch this space!
No raw eggs for me at the moment as I am pregnant but…J’adore la mousse au chocolat! Mel #RecipeoftheWeek #TastyTuesdays
