Franglaise Cooking is made up of a French/English couple, living in London and raising their French/English daughters, aged 7 and 1.
Ben is French and has been passionate about cooking ever since he was big enough to toddle into his parents’ and grandparents’ kitchens. He comes from a family where cooking was in the blood and he spent many a happy hour, watching and helping his grandmothers and mum in the kitchen. His influences come from the Mediterranean and Provence as he grew up in Avignon, before living in Marseille and then Nice, however his family hails from Brittany and the East of France, so these regions also feature in his cooking. Ben lived in France for most of his life (except a brief sojourn in San Francisco) until 2010 when, along with his Franglaise family, he moved to London. Ben’s background is in IT and project management, and he also blogs about the stock market in French over at www.BourseEnsemble.com.
Sophie is English, the middle child of 5 children (3 girls, 2 boys, the same parents) and learnt to cook at home, aged 17, when she negotiated cooking the family evening meal in exchange for driving lessons paid for by her parents. The meals had to be quick, easy, balanced and stick to a strict budget. When Sophie moved to France, aged 22, her love of food took off, and 12 years of living there taught her an awful lot about making good food easily as well as sourcing and using quality ingredients. Sophie loves cooking and eating decent food, so is conscious of the need for healthy dishes too (age and 2 children mean she can’t eat anything she wants now sadly). Sophie currently works as a childminder, providing varied, balanced meals for the babies and children she looks after, she also blogs at www.FranglaiseMummy.com
